RORU's annual health fair in Soroti provided free medical screenings, health education, and referral services to more than 2,000 community members over two days.
RORU's Annual Community Health Fair, held at Soroti Municipal Grounds over the weekend, attracted more than 2,000 participants from across the district. The two-day event provided free medical screenings, health education, and referral services for a wide range of conditions.
Services Offered
Health professionals from partner organizations and local health facilities provided the following services:
- Blood pressure and diabetes screening
- HIV/AIDS testing and counseling
- Eye examinations and free reading glasses
- Dental check-ups and treatment
- Child immunization catch-up sessions
- Family planning education and services
Community Response
The event was particularly well-received by community members who rarely have access to specialized health services. Over 150 individuals were referred to district hospitals for follow-up treatment based on screening results.
"Events like this save lives by catching health problems early," noted the District Health Officer who attended the fair. "We commend RORU for organizing this and hope to see it continue."
